Running USA reports that the half-marathon is the most popular race distance in the country now – as evidenced by the fact that more than 13,000 people want to spend a July weekend in Utica… and for some of them, that may not even be enough!

Popularity will either drastically increase or decrease depending on how runners react to a new Tennessee concept.

If you are looking for inspiration, the 2011 Warrior Games should do the trick. The LaShawn Merritt story probably won’t.

In the NCAA watch, Texas A&M still leads the men’s rankings, and the A&M women move back on top after a strong Big 12 showing. Time to get ready for next week’s big dance in Iowa.
