Because we’re not just about the Weekly Retro, Rabbit Ears is your new-music audio dump specifically suited to get you pumped (and keep you pumped) during those long, tough workouts.  Following up on his “Summer List” from last week, University of Michigan’s Zach Ornelas brings you five tracks that will make you want to bust out some dance moves as you hit those trails.

Robyn: Dancing On My Own – Body Talk, Pt. 1

Sometimes the best music to listen to when you don’t quite have the motivation to run is one that might fire you up and make you want to hit the dance floor after your workout.  Swedish pop-star Robyn’s “Dancing on my Own” does just that. Key Line: “I’m just gonna dance all night.”

The Naked and Famous: Young Blood – Passive Me Aggressive You

This track may have a slightly different sound from the others on this playlist but the upbeat rhythm and heavy synths will keep you fired up. Key line: “The mood it changes like the wind, hard to control when it begins.”

Britney Spears ft. Nicki Minaj and Ke$ha: Till the World Ends (The Femme Fatale Remix) [feat. Nicki Minaj & Ke$ha] – Till the World Ends (The Femme Fatale Remix) [feat. Nicki Minaj & Ke$ha] – Single

Ok, that lineup of artists may terrify you, but listen to this song and I dare you to not get it stuck in your head. Key line: “See the sunlight? We ain’t stoppin, keep on dancing till the world ends.”

Ellie Goulding: Lights (Bassnectar Remix) – Lights (The Remixes), Pt. 1 – EP

Dubstep is a love it or hate it thing with most people, but the wobble bass in this remix of pop-star Ellie Goulding’s hit song “Lights” will have you ready to roll. Key line: “And so I tell myself that I’ll be strong.”

Dizzie Rascal: Bonkers – Tongue ‘n’ Cheek

Heavy bass, synths, and a British rapper make up one catchy song. Plus the lyrics to the chorus explain why we do crazy things to our bodies through running. Key line: “Some people think I’m bonkers, but I just think I’m free.”

Zach Ornelas ran a 9:09 3,000-meter steeplechase in the Indiana Milers Club High Performance Meet recently. Although he loves running and living in Michigan for school, he can’t wait to get back to Texas where it’s always sunny! Agree or disagree with his song choices?
